    Information

    Pan Será is a compact bread that has been made on the island of Curacao long before there was any bakery on the island. Poeple use to bake their own bread in an outdoor stone over and due the minimal use of yeast, the bread remains relativaly heavy. Bread tast good when eaten with butter, dutch cheese (Young Gouda Cheese) or any kind of other cold meats.


    Ingredients

    • 2 cups of all purpose flour
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 teaspoons yeast
    • 3 tablespoons of margarine
    • 2 tablespoon of crisco vegetable shortening
    • 1 cup cold water


    Preparation

    1. Combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
    2. Sift the flour using a sieve to combine all the ingredients.
    3. Make sure butter is room temperature and add to the flour
    4. Add the crisco.
    5. Mix content and slowly add water until it gets sticky and all the flour is wet.
    6. Put some flour on your hands and start kneading. Do not knead to much to avoid the dough to become hard. 
    7. Then let sit for about 25 minutes to rise.
    8. Then shape your bread rolls and put them in a baking pan and let them sit for another hour.
    9. Turn on you oven to aabout 380 degree and let them bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
