A stew is a combination of solid food ingredients that have been cooked in liquid and served in the resultant gravy. Ingredients in a stew can include any combination of vegetables (such as carrots, potatoes, onions, beans, peppers and tomatoes) or meat, especially tougher meats suitable for slow-cooking, such as beef


Ingredients

 

  • 1 1/2 lb of beef
  • 1 lemon
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped bell pepper
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 small meat stock cube
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tea-spoon mango chutney
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce asin
  • 1 tablespoon pickles
  • 2 teaspoons tomato puree
  • about 2 1/2 cups of water

Preparation


  1. Wash the meat in water with lemon juice and cut the beef into small cubes or strips.
  2. Put the meat in a pan.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients except the tomato paste and water.
  4. Mix well and let it cook a few minutes on medium heat.
  5. Then add the tomato paste and water.
  6. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  7. Cover pot with a lit and let is heat simmer on low heat until the meat is tender and the sauce is nice and thick.
  8. Every now and then stir well.
